THE YOGYAKARTA PRINCIPLES – 2006
In 2006, a diverse group of lawyers, academics, human rights experts including former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and NGOs met in Yogyakarta, Indonesia and unanimously adopted a set of international principles on the application of human rights in relation to sexual orientation and gender identity. The 29 Yogyakarta Principles have further been expanded in 2017 (YP+10) to include principles on gender expression and sex characteristics.
